GI Convenor's end-of-year message
Tuesday 22 December 2020
Dear Gender Institute Friends and Colleagues,

In the year when ‘because, 2020’ became a form of explanation for every new order of woes, we are all no doubt more relieved than usual to be counting down to year’s end!

It was a thrill to hold a ‘real’ (and COVID-safe) event earlier this month showcasing the 2020 Gender Institute grants that have supported some fantastic work at ANU related to women in the creative arts. If you weren’t able to be there, a recording is available here. These were great projects, so do watch and share!

This week we have also put out a call for applications to our annual prizes. These are open to ANU students in a range of categories – so do please apply if you are eligible or encourage someone who is.

We have plenty of plans taking shape for 2021. The Gender Institute will effectively be closed from 23 December 2020 until 19 January 2021, with the newsletter resuming in February 2021.

My thanks to all those who have worked so hard to support us this year, and have continued to dream up exciting projects. Despite huge challenges, so many opportunities have emerged to rethink institutional habits and do our work in fresh ways. As 2020 draws to close, I hope you will all find time to draw a breath and enjoy friends and family.

With all the season’s good wishes,
Fiona
